What’s in a name?

It’s time to say goodbye to Betty Etiquette and get back to my roots, my Rebecca Cahill Roots. Betty Etiquette was my ride or die for the past 13 years and together me and this little brand have been on some amazing adventures. But my work has changed, the world has changed and now it’s time to give her one last fist-bump, thank her for her service and fly solo.

If you have just stumbled across my journal, Betty Etiquette was a stationery and illustration a brand I launched in 2012. Alongside a range of stationery products, I taught calligraphy workshops across the country and wrote two craft books on the subject. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some incredible brands, creating content and popping up at events with them.

Over the past few years behind the scenes I have been working more on my own artwork in my studio and developing my work as a creative practitioner. I have had the privilege of working with museums, schools and community venues running workshops that use art to connect and explore important and sometimes difficult subjects. Working with children and adult groups in this way has been incredible and utterly joyful. But it has also has made it really clear that it’s no longer a brand or product I’m selling, it’s just me and my creative work so I’ve made it easier for people to find me with a name change on IG and a new online sketchbook here at A Slice of Paper.

So now you can find me over on IG @rebecca_c_roots and have a peek here at what I’m up to. There will be a shop with original work and prints here too, as soon as I build up the courage to launch it.

Thank you for being a part of all the good-stuff so far and making the hard times feel less pointy along the way. However you found your way here, through workshops, calligraphy, at craft markets, or sharing my art, I hope you will stick around to see what comes next.
